Maybe the mistake I’ve always made when talking about Bitcoin was saying that the system was broken, like economists were stupid or something.

But it’s not broken. It works perfectly.

It took me a while to realize this.

We live in an era where we can cure once-incurable diseases, send people to Mars, and build AI that simulates human thought. And yet, we can’t ensure that two working adults can afford a stable life?

No, it’s not incompetence. They're not stupid. It’s not bad luck. It’s by design.

The economy isn’t in crisis. It’s just that we’re not at the center of it. It’s engineered to transfer wealth and power upward. The Cantillon Effect isn’t a side effect = it’s the engine of the system.

Money is the source code of power. And as long as it’s arbitrarily

I put together an experimental relay for selective file sharing over #blossom and #nostr that allows users to upload files and selectively share them with other users, with the following features:

🚦 Uploaded files are not publicly accessible by default
🔓 Files become available only to nostr users selected by the uploader

I created this to help me experiment with the concept of collective backups and social recovery of files/photos, but thought it could be useful to other builders on the space, so I am publishing it!

Here is where you can find it (still highly experimental 🧪):

https://github.com/Leaf-Computer/blobstr-relay/

If you end up using this (or if you run into bugs), I would love to hear from you!

Version 2 of this draft is out now with several improvements!

Tired of closed project management and productivity tools that don't quite fit your use case, but is also hard to extend/customize?

I wrote a draft for some new NIPs that aim to address these issues: https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/1767

If you have interest in building productivity tools based on Nostr, I would love to hear your thoughts!

Hey nostr! It's our favourite day of the week - Testflight release Friday!

Check out what’s cooking in this version 👀

📝 Drafts! Notes in progress will always be persisted and saved automatically. Never lose those banger notes when you aren't quite ready to ship them. Take your time, make them great.

🖼️ Profile image cropping. Make your profile look just right without any fuss. It also optimizes them on upload now to not nuke other people’s phone data bills. Nice!

🧹 Feed cleaning. You won't see the same note more than once in your home feed - ie. No more scrolling through the same reposts!

⏳ Fixed note loading when clicking notifications and damus.io links. No longer will you get dropped into the app wondering what the hell just happened.

☎️ Fixed NWC not working when you

I’m from a small town in Italy, and if you think longevity comes from steaks and relentless self-discipline, think again. Here people drink wine daily, eat carbs without guilt, and yet most live well into their 90s. Maybe the real villains aren’t carbs, but stress and isolation.

I believe SSH is somewhat underrated as a Freedom Tech protocol.

It is stable and reliable, features built-in pubkey authentication, does not require certificate provisioning, and can establish multiple secure data channels for almost any purpose.

It sounds like an excellent protocol to build on.

Oh, I guess this must be because I thought bots were spamming njump.me a while ago and blocked b̶i̶l̶l̶g̶a̶t̶e̶s̶b̶o̶t̶ BingBot. Turns out it was just a bunch of bugs of my own creation, which I then fixed, but forgot to unblock the bots. Thank you for raising this now.

But sadly njump.me is not getting very much indexed on Google either. I used to be able to find most of the Nostr influencers like @PABLOF7z 🧡 and @jb55 by doing a njump-scoped Google search, but now not even that is working.

It seems like njump.me results are being shadow-banned by DuckDuckGo. Can anyone confirm if they are experiencing the same issue? I was able to find results up until recently.

It is not much posting compared to some other people I have seen on Nostr, but definitely my own personal record, I used to post close to zero things when using other platforms 😂

I am way more proactive on Nostr than I have ever been on any platform in my life, and that makes me happy 😄

GM

Constraints are often seen as a bad thing to be overcome or complained about — but with a shift in perspective, they can often be viewed as an opportunity.

People tend to complicate things. Constraints can help by forcing one to constantly reconsider their approach and shift their focus towards fewer but more important things.

If simplicity is the highest sophistication, then constraints are the way the Universe guides you to uphold that principle.

How is the Bitcoin/Nostr scene in Tokyo? Are there frequent bitdevs-style meetups and other social events?

I found some events online, but I would love to hear the opinions of someone living in Tokyo!

Humanity needs more books and learning resources on how to build sustainable and ethical human-centric products and companies. There does not seem to be a lot of those around (or at least I am not aware)

jb55

May 17, 2024

And we wonder why people are so fucked up, people building apps just want you to be hopelessly addicted so they can make more money from ads. It’s hard to find design books on optimizing human well-being. Why does our relationship with computers have to be framed around getting users hooked on crack? There is something seriously wrong with our industry.

jb55

May 17, 2024

Replying to @USER

When i tried to google design books around this concept all i found were books and how to keep users addicted. Let’s not care about peoples well being, let’s just get them hooked 🙄
