On the 6th of this month, we started sending $5 in sats weekly to our new group of moms. They now know how to make #Bitcoin transactions and are supporting our merchants weekly.
We also pay 4 employees in BTC every week meaning even more Bitcoin transactions for our merchants!

On Saturday, 5th April, Bitcoin Babies was honoured to attend and represented by Veronica our Circular Economy Specialist at BitBiashara Graduation Ceremony, a vibrant celebration of entrepreneurs who took the bold step to study both Bitcoin and business.
These weren’t ordinary graduates. They are everyday heroes — women, men, mothers, youth — business owners who said yes to learning how Bitcoin can be used as a medium of exchange and a tool for building better lives.
We had deep conversations around:

We are saying goodbye to our first group of mothers, whom we have followed and supported weekly for a year. At the same time, we are welcoming our second group of mothers, who we will be guiding and supporting for the next year.
It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to such an amazing and enthusiastic group of mothers (and their now-toddlers!), but it’s also the start of something new and exciting with a fresh group!
Today, we have organized a meetup for everyone involved. There will be food, and our team has put together a wonderful program!

Our mini-mart is no longer so mini! Exciting news our merchant, Gmax Mini Mart, is expanding. This means it will become the biggest supermarket in Matangi Kimbo area while remaining an official partner of #Bitcoin Babies.

Bitcoin Babies Circular Economy: Revolutionizing Local Transactions in Kimbo Matangi
The Bitcoin Babies Circular Economy, a community-driven project, began with the simple goal of helping mothers receive financial support in a way that could benefit the entire area. By introducing Bitcoin as a payment method, the initiative is fostering a local circular economy by encouraging bitcoin transactions.
The journey began when we noticed that the $5 sent to mothers through the Bitcoin Babies program was being automatically converted into local currency (Kenyan Shillings). While this worked for the moms in the short term, the goal was to enable them to use the Bitcoin (in the form of SATS) directly rather than relying on conversion into Ksh. This led to

Understanding and managing emotions is key to mental wellness. Often, we overreact because we don’t know how to process feelings like anger, sadness, or grief. By naming our emotions, we begin the journey of taming them, allowing us to respond with clarity and balance.
It's amazing how naming emotions brings us closer to inner peace and growth, even within relationships and family. This simple practice could help reduce the alarming rates of suicide and femicide in Kenya.

At the beginning of the program, we had a woman whose husband asked why we were sending her the $5 worth of sats instead of him. He even went as far as making it impossible for her to attend our program.
Financial abuse exacerbates domestic violence towards women, as extreme dependency on their partner arises from limitations in accessing traditional financial systems.
Bitcoin, for us, offers a safe and secure way for women to keep and earn money. Its permissionless nature empowers women by providing financial independence without relying on traditional institutions.

There is a coordinated attack on Coco Melon because parents/caretakers are being hyper irresponsible and not spending enough time with their kids and instead let the TV co-parent (but I also feel like the attack is happening because Coco Melon is unsanctioned).
The attack on Coco Melon is weird when you consider that most of the media recommended as alternatives to Coco Melon has the same songs/video styles as Coco Melon (even Sesame Street has a few videos with the same songs). These alternatives are ultimately not the remedy! And very sure when the alternatives start becoming popular these alternatives will be seen in the same light as Coco Melon and whatever developmental issues a kid has will be pinned on the media (when the kid doesn't touch grass).
