My plan:
1) Use the owner profile only for administrative purposes.
2) Whenever possible, use @Zapstore and Obtanium.
3) Avoid unnecessary apps.
4) Don't be too restrictive; it's a midterm project.

Vibe coding native apps will improve significantly over the next 2 years, and we'll see a lot of competition in the space.
Clearly, the majority will happen on Android which will make the Apple App Store comically small by comparison.
With this fast changing landscape, what do you think Apple will do?
Finally let go and allow alternative marketplaces?
Keep tightening because of "all those dangerous apps" out there?

Excluding simple one-off or copycat apps, product design and possibly QA are areas where humans still need to be actively involved.
This human/tech synergy will enable building apps that were unthinkable of before, it will empower the long tail at a large scale.
The total amount of apps globally will explode in number so discovery, curation, distribution will become even more important than today.
Niche apps that are now feasible can be produced by anyone, anywhere around the world, and sats + signed events will be the fuel of this whole system.

Remixing sounds interesting (maybe on publicly available building blocks or UX patterns) but virtually any app could be produced from scratch.
I wonder how product design, PRDs and project maintenance will evolve with all this as clearly agents can't read our minds (yet)

I did a fresh install after the issues started, but no avail.
The issue is that the app starts up into a full black screen and no amount of waiting time seems to move it to the proper home screen.

Small update coming next week, hopefully.
Otherwise, *very* busy on a few different low-level building blocks that are dynamite. Can't wait to share with y'all.
Once ready (likely 4-6 more weeks) I will finally be able to start shipping a significant amount of user-facing features that have been in the pipeline.

After almost 8 months from the conception of the idea, to meeting @Pip the social graph guy in Riga, brainstorming the product, and putting a lot of effort to launch... it's time to go.
While Pip was always the brains behind the algos, crawler and a #golang wizard, my involvement still required energy that was being taken away from other places.
So I'm back to focusing 110% on @Zapstore.
I'm very proud of what we built (including my baby npub.world). Vertex really works, it's well-designed, fast, reliable, interoperable and will be elemental in an open protocol where separating signal vs noise is a must.
All the best moving forward my friend @Pip the social graph guy 🫂! For those who don't know him, one of the best developers in nostr, hands down.

Voca’s npub is barely a week old, our first release dropped yesterday, and already the community zapped over **300k sats** into existence.
Nostr is still a fledgling protocol, yet here we are—operating at a scale where decentralized funding can bootstrap an entirely new application that's nor even a nostr client.
This isn’t incremental change—it’s a new paradigm.
The message is clear: **Build. Ship. Repeat.** The future isn’t just bright—it’s already here, and it's a future where you can just build stuff.

Hanging while updating apps was the main reason for constant anger.

#Introductions
Voca is a text-to-speech application, built by cypherpunks for cypherpunks.
Voca is free and open-source, designed exclusively for GrapheneOS. It operates fully offline with zero Google dependencies.
You can queue and render text instantly, no tracking, no ads, no compromises. Just text read aloud for you.
Development is funded exclusively by donations: the more you zap, the more we ship.
Voca is just getting started, so if you want to see this app in reality, let us know we're on the right track with a fat zap to pay the devs.

So far, I found this app on @Zapstore, looks promising: https://opentracksapp.com
But it needs OSM Dashboard for OpenTracks to be installed and as well Gadgetbridge to connect with a Garmin device, both not on zapstore?
Anyway, what are your favorite open source apps and solutions to replace outdoor and fitness apps?

1. **Download ytdlnis**:
- Install the free tool **ytdlnis** from @Zapstore. This app will automatically fetch YouTube content and save it locally.
2. **Set Up a New YouTube Source**:
- Open **ytdlnis**, navigate to *More > Sources > New Source*.
- Give the source a title, paste the YouTube channel’s URL, and select **Get Future Uploads Only** to auto-download new videos.
3. **Link the Feed to Your Podcast App**:
- In your podcast app, add a **local folder** as a new feed.
- Point it to ytdlnis’ default download folder (usually located in the app’s settings/directory). Enable “auto-add to queue” if available.
**Done!** Your podcast app will now treat YouTube uploads like regular podcast episodes, creating a unified queue for all your audio and video subscriptions.

Not releasing much lately. Hard work happening under the surface:
- Working on UI/UX and data loading with @Niel Liesmons
- Working on all-new relays with @Alex Gleason
That is laying the groundwork for a LOT of cool social features, and access to massive amount of apps.
And my most important interop priority: ability to manage relays, Blossom servers and DVMs.

This is another example why "app stores" are retarded. Either they are curated lists of trusted apps according to whatever trusted person or they accept anything but then you shouldn't be browsing them looking for cool extensions because everything must be assumed to be a virus.
@Zapstore should be fixing this by letting anyone publish an app uncensorably using any relay while simultaneously providing users with relay-based curated browsing experiences.

The premium domain renewal is too expensive, so I'm moving it to zapstore.dev for years to come. The middle dot is also confusing for pronounciation.
Website, relay, CDN will all be moving to the new domain in the next release, coming this week.

Why? Because it's based on nostr events for each app and release, cryptographically tied to actual packages/binaries.
So even if they make feijoada with @franzap 's head for having VPN apps, the app store will just keep running.
It's also open source and you can fork it (we'll make it easier though, and let you manage your relays)
Super early days, but freedom and UX will only go up from here.

This version adds support for Data Vending Machines for content discovery. You can request a job by simply navigating to the 4th tab and choosing one of the DVMs. It also starts our support for the Inbox/Gossip model. The relay setup screen has been rewritten to support the many types of relays Amethyst will start to use. Please add your relays as you see fit.
Our video caching system has been improved. Most of the high-bandwidth use of the app in the last month has been due to a faulty caching system for some video types. The app was just downloading them at every playback. In a similar way, the caching system for encrypted events has been massively improved. The app should feel visibly lighter at this point.
