A few people have expressed concern for my safety so I’ll address this here. I’m not suicidal in the slightest, thank God. My support system is incredible and my plans for the future give me life.
I go through seasons where I am a target, it comes with the territory. I sometimes fall back from the public because I’ve been threatened and warned.
I recorded a podcast with @Thank God For Nostr Podcast a few weeks ago where I frantically spoke about the need for Nostr and privacy focused messaging apps for survivors and advocates. It is a matter of life and death sometimes. No matter what happens to me please remember that what you are building here is for people like me and so many others. This thought gives me hope. Thank you to the builders. Keep going no matter freaking what, please.

I’m currently in a holding pattern, awaiting clarity on a supposed FBI investigation tied to my work supporting multiple Epstein/Maxwell survivors. To be clear, I’ve done nothing illegal or wrong this would focus on the survivors, not me. If the FBI moves forward, staying public online would be necessary to maintain my voice and avoid dealing with corporate media or new media clowns. It’s a strange limbo, and I’m skeptical about the fairness of any investigation. I hope it never comes to that, but if it does, Nostr could be a powerful tool for someone in my position.

We’ve launched support for muting notifications from hellthreads (notes with more than 10 user mentions). By default, this setting is enabled for all users to help reduce noise and improve your experience.
For hellthread enjoyers, if you prefer to receive notifications from hellthreads, you can adjust this setting in the Notification Settings section of our Web app. That setting will be available in our mobile apps in the next release.

However, its strict rules, including risk assessments and fines up to £18 million or 10% of global revenue, are causing unintended harm. Small websites are shutting down, unable to cope with the compliance burden.
Examples include:
-LFGSS, a cycling forum with 70,000 members, closed on March 16, 2025, citing liability risks.
-The Hamster Forum and Dads with Kids, niche community sites, also shut down due to the Act’s demands.
These closures fracture valuable communities. LFGSS, for instance, hosted a final bike ride event, showing the real-world connections lost. The Act’s broad approach may be undermining its safety goals. Healthy communities online can create a safer place for many.

I think 2 parts are crucial actually 2.5:
- the `root issue that i mentioned earlier, when the content is not short notes.
- Damus (maybe others not sure) assume the mentionned content is a shot note thats why we can see the note1, however due it is clearly not kind-1, so wrong encoding in here, perhaps the quoting triggered it.
- the .5 part is that: some clients handle the mentions while others handle quotes exclusively and not both.
Thats why I suggested @eliza to minimize the actions to one client, and we see how we notify others to fix such things.

Thank you for having the courage to write this and share it here. My wife and I have had many conversations on this topic - specifically the “how do we teach them about the internet and the tool it is/how to use it? How do we disciple and raise them up so they’re defining their relationship with this technology and not just having it defined for them through non intentional interaction with the internet or other bad actors (governments, big tech, and the plethora of the blob that don’t actually give a shit about their well-being). Anyway, I found your piece beautifully nuanced and well written. It was thought provoking and actually adds a lot to the conversation/spurs the conversation onward. We need to talk about this stuff as a culture and change. And honestly the presence of that content even on a place like primal/nostr based platforms bothers me/makes
