A few weeks ago, I enjoyed a business trip to San Francisco to visit Presidio Bitcoin, a new physical bitcoin space that aims to bring together bitcoin developers, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts in the Bay Area. There is no doubt that all those brilliant minds interacting together will end up building great tools.
As a meetup organiser and proud member of the Breizh Bitcoin collective, I always enjoy travelling abroad to connect with fellow bitcoiners. Communities are popping up all over the world, turning this digital P2P cash system into a real-world network of individuals. Go build bridges with other communities!

Man, being back in an urban environment after years of being out in the forest is a real mindfuck.
I just notice the constant human pattern algorithms playing. All of the micro transactions between people, the unsaid normative system at play, the default mode of everyday being that permeates everything. It’s wild to see how the architecture of modernism itself dictates our entire way of being.
Most fucked up is how I’ve missed it. How the comfort of the system of constant appraisal and social cohesion and its overtures towards a nostalgic component of desire that never actualizes. You wouldn’t believe it, but spend a few years living alone out in the forest and you’ll be surprised at what you miss.

Life just kinda of gets progressively more difficult—dealing with death and hardship, difficult traumas and life events, and eventually an ailing body and your own demise. It’s not to say there are not wonderful events and experiences in there, but it generally is an uphill battle. The good news is that as we gain experience through life we generally become more equipped to deal with the onslaught of difficulties and more capable of skillful navigating them; but it really never gets easier, you just become more experienced in dealing with the difficulties.

I’m about 1/3 of the way through this, and I have to say that Karp makes an excellent and compelling argument that has me questioning my own stance and judgment of these issues more than I have in the past decade.
Most substantially, I find he has made a compelling argument for the need for Americans to stand for something, and be willing to engage with the messy and convoluted process of trying to rediscover what being American would really mean. If we are to take the idea of a Technological Republic seriously and the need for classic liberal American values to be imbued within that, than we need to take this call very seriously and how we can contribute to it in the most meaningful way possible.

Never has there been a greater opportunity to build substantial and meaningful contributions on top of the most important economic and financial innovation created since double entry accounting itself. Given the fact that the proposed digital assets stockpile would possibly be built on *seized* coins, let me give you a quick introduction to forfeiture law, and why crying for daddy to please please make its pile of flying horseshit "bitcoin only" *literally* the most retarded thing you could be wishing for, ever.
Forfeiture law – or civil asset forfeiture, to be precise – is this fun little game the government plays in which it does not have to accuse you of a crime to confiscate your property.
Instead of accusing you of a crime, the Government claims that the asset itself has facilitated a crime, and can therefore be seized by the Government.

I was feeling pretty down earlier today, and forced myself to go out mushroom hunting. After about an hour, I was really surprised at how much better I was feeling. Getting that blood flowing and getting your mind off of whatever it may be spinning on is really important to take care of yourself.
I just wanted to say that for anyone feeling down to encourage them to get out of the house and do something to take care of their body and the mind will likely follow suit.

So I’m thinking of buying a retreat center in the redwoods of Northern California that supports about 50 people in a rustic setting.
It’s pretty badass. 8 cabins, riverside, large hot tub, 3 saunas, swimming pond on about +200 acres. It’s expensive and would take a few years to get cashflow positive, but I could do it.
I think it would be a great spot to do various workshops on self-sovereignty, and get brilliant people together to teach, learn, and collaborate together. Only problem is I have no fucking clue what I am doing or how to run something like this. I feel confident I could figure it out, I just know it’ll be a lot of work, administration, and management the first several years.
But with that being said, I guess get busy living or get busy dying.

I have always struggled to get myself motivated to lift weight, or work out for that matter, but I’ve finally been doing it more consistently over the last several months.
Much more than simply getting more fit, I find that I have a lot more endogenous motivation to just do chores and other shit that I need to do, and I don’t slip into feeling depressed as I have a tendency to do.
While it was pretty hard to get myself out to my gym in my workshop at first, I’m finding more and more that it’s becoming easier to get myself out there to do it, and start my day on a good note that lets me have a productive day that I would have otherwise wasted.
It feels good man.

I’ve been off Twitter and all social media except for Nostr for a month now, and the results are hard to argue with.
I’ve started reading real books again (4 this month) and have noticed both my patience and attention increase noticeably. I also feel less angry and anxiety daily, along with being committed to my workout routine.
I found that Nostr has met my social media needs, most importantly, my own ability to self-limit with it. Nostr is a bit ‘boring’ compared to traditional social media because ITS NOT TRYING TO KILL YOU!!!

I am constantly fascinated at the religion of science and the ridged authoritarianism that comes with it from establishment ‘scientists’ and ‘researchers’.
While real science as a process of testing hypotheses clearly works and has greatly advanced humanity, there seems to be a fundamental disconnect from establishment ‘science’ as bureaucratic process that is self-reinforcing towards itself and its own authority, rather than science itself. To be clear, establishment science is not science at all, and corrupts the very idea of the scientific procedure through using authoritarianism, rather than proof of work to show why their science is actually correct.
This is why so many people today are willing (and mostly correct) in calling well understood scientific processes like vaccination a scam—because it is! It’s no longer real scientific vaccination, but has integrated profit motives of establishment ‘science’ that is more self-serving than scientific.

Thinking demands responsibility, the capacity to be correct or incorrect, the existential angst of what it means to decide on the nature of things, and what it means if you are right or wrong.

I recently had a big shift in my life that has me feel like I am back from the dead. A second chance as what I had been building for a decade, and then proceeded to fuck-up because I was too stupid to see and value what I had been working on. It’s rare to have conversations with normies that enjoy at all, as they feel so programmed and ignorant of everything going on around them. Challenging their views or asking them to try on a different perspective is rare. They are so brittle, uninspiring, and normal—it seems very sad to me that we all have so much potential and this is all they challenge themselves to be.
I empathize and understand why, but at the same time, I fail to understand the lack of curiosity and the drive to understand things and how the world works.
