One of the core #nostr features is giving people choice in apps, relays, tools, settings, development... For #Nostrasia I wanted to symbolize the importance of having choice by making three different t-shirt designs.
T-shirts are a way of carrying memories back with you, and it feels good to get to choose what you take back, including the t-shirt. They were inspired in Asian characters, yet reflecting nostr culture:

Hard to explain…when I setup Mutiny I was able to connect to my social graph using only my npub, and I was also able to give my lightning address for my Mutiny profile.
What if, it hadn’t been me that setup Mutiny.
That person uses my npub.
They can give a different lightning address.
They will appear on Mutiny as me, to whomever follows me.
Does that mean someone who follows me could send funds to that address on Mutiny’s profile, though it’s not my address?

I am thrilled to share my new essay
"Stranded: How Bitcoin is Saving Wasted Energy and Expanding Financial Freedom in Africa"
I was profoundly moved by what I saw on a recent trip to Kenya and Malawi.
If this essay can show you even 1% of what inspired me, that's a win… here’s an overview:
We begin in Bondo, a small town in Malawi, a country where only 11% of the population has access to electricity.
The nation suffers 6-8 hours of blackouts a day, but the power in Bondo is consistent because of Bitcoin mining.
The town got its first electricity in 2016, and now is expanding its grid, thanks to Bitcoin, which is buying 100% of the electricity that the micro-hydro stations cannot sell, and giving precious capital to the power company so it can expand

Thank you, @rabble , for the insights into your #Nostrasia experience. Turning passive listeners into active participants at unconferences may be an answer to shaping more interesting in-depth discussions, helping bridge cultural gaps, and some #unmarketing consumer research.
Many builders in the nostr community choose to protect people by not gathering data, nor selling it off to advertisers. This shapes a caring community working on improving their products for the people who use them, instead of for advertisers. We are likely to see many benefits to that choice, including a focus on building creative tools empowering the individual.
Not gathering data creates a need to think of alternative avenues on what can improve our experience of nostr products and services, what is drawing people in, and what keeps us in nostr.
#Nostr may exist in cyberspace, and many people offer product and service improvement

Developers have picked up on #nostr because of its coding simplicity. If contributing to a wiki could be simple for non-devs, and done within your nostr client, it could open it up to a wider set of perspectives.
A large part of the digital world we experience has been crafted by men of a certain age range. Grateful for what’s been built yet also looking forward to how nostr will continue to expand to include more points of view.
Having more inclusion of people of different genders, places, and walks of life should be encouraged to enrich our cyberspace libraries. This may come from education, word-of-mouth, ease-of-wiki-use, access to wikis from our nostr clients, and ways of engaging with the community to encourage contributions.

Exactly one year ago I made my first post on Nostr using branle client. It was horrible, but good enough to demonstrate it.
Back then, most of the discussion happened in the telegram group because nostr was painful to use. The group was already big (500+ IIRC) but only like 20 people were active and all were developers, from memory I think and a few others.
The protocol was very simple and solved a real problem for real people. There was no funding, no "team", no leadership, just people having fun - the opposite of a cult.
It felt like the Linux community in my small town when I was a kid. It also kind of felt like the very experimental early days on Bitcointalk.
