Replying to @USER

Same views were expressed by sheikh Abdulhakim Murad in UK, which I as a layperson greatly favor. And Nouman Ali Khan also said "Islam is not a thing that wipes out your local culture. It only filters out the prohibited, problematic things".

So was watching The Thinking Muslim with their latest discussion with Imam Tom Facchine and the man seriously has such good insights. May Allah سُبْحَانَهُۥ وَتَعَالَىٰ preserve and protect him and his family.

Wanted to share the very comprehensive response from Imam Tom to the following question by Muhammad Jalal.

(Also super satisfying that I don't have to break up my post due to a paywall limitation 😆)

MJ: Those who Embrace Islam are they expected to embrace Muslim culture in inverted commas or Arab culture or Pakistani culture whether that's dress or food or you know other aspects of cultural life because of course we do see a lot of converts who become Muslim and culturally also they shift more than just their ideas and their habits and their religious commitments.

TF: This is one of the most important questions especially

Just read about food preparations for #Ramadan and was pointed to https://myhalalkitchen.com/

What a great website. It's been up since 2008. Only thing missing is a Bitcoin payment option and a Nostr key pair and it's perfect.

Best VPNs right now:

Mullvad: good performance, anonymous payment, no email account

Obscura VPN: can't be blocked by VPN detectors, anonymous payment, no email account, but only Mac client for now (will change in near future)

NymVPN: zero-knowledge network, anonymous payments, no email account, covers & obfuscates traffic, but no wireguard configs for routers yet

What I don't count:

ProtonVPN: no anonymous payments => KYC
LNVPN: Lightning payments but has data transfer limits

Soooo I unintentionally orange pilled my family and they want to start saving in it. While I'm glad, I'm also panicking because I gotta start learning on how to properly store it, the tax procedure for holding it in Canada, and idk what else. 🥲

Announcing the Muslim Bitcoiners Summit!

Insha Allah we're planning on having the first Bitcoin conference for Muslims on April 6th in Dallas TX. We'll have Muslim thought leaders, developers, and entrepreneurs join us to discuss using Bitcoin to break free from the usurious fiat money system. This conference is open to both beginners and seasoned bitcoiners that want to learn more about how Bitcoin can empower the Ummah and potentially revolutionize Islamic finance.

Sign up for the conference here: tinyurl.com/yn6xxdf9

No, that's just misguided lust for power. The only political agenda of Bitcoin is financial self-sovereignty. And that's how it should stay. Especially since Bitcoiners are not a homogeneous mass and there are also many free-riders and, as mentioned, power-hungry among them. Power corrupts, power is a test that only few pass.

Exercise your political power by becoming free from fiat structures.

Hiya @@npub1xr7t5 nice to see you join nostr. Since you're on your awakening journey I would highly suggest you read a bit more into the taliban instead of just labelling them using the misunderstood history that many westerners have been taught. So here's a very good book on it https://www.amazon.com/True-Story-Taliban-Insurgency-1994-2021-ebook/dp/B0D3WKN393?ref_=ast_author_mpb

Let's start with seed signers

Since you are here, you have a key pair: a public key (npub) and a private key (nsec). You can log in to a Nostr client with both. Even with a public key. With any public key. If you take, for example, a stranger's public key, you will see that person's timeline. However, you cannot post new content with it. To post content, you need the private key.

It's best not to enter your private key directly into a Nostr client, as that would not be the safest way. While most developers are reputable and would never do this, and most Nostr applications are open-source anyway, it could still happen that - especially with newer, unknown or closed-source applications - someone might simply save your private key that you entered for login somewhere. With that, they could collect a few private

I don't think I internalized how bitcoin made it so easy to send someone money. Like when I do it through other means it was such a hassle and long winded process. Like I had to justify to the mediator why I'm sending my own money to my own family member 😂

Hey there! 👋
New to Nostr, excited to explore this community after the recommendation of @nprofile1q.
I’m a data analyst based in Europe, working as a consultant in the public sector, particularly with cities and their "subsidiaries".
In my free time, I enjoy diving into books—whether it’s history, fantasy, or science fiction. Always up for a discussion about the 19th century, industrial revolutions, or the latest great reads.
Still getting the hang of Nostr, so feel free to share tips or cool accounts to follow! 😊

It's quite amazing that many libertarians are falling for this. There is no way to make government effecient as there's no penalty for being wrong👇

"the ideal of an “efficient” government is impossible. As Mises, Rothbard, and others have explained in detail, the very characteristics that make something a government also ensure it will be terrible at allocating resources. Governments are immune from economic losses, attain capital through seizure, are often operating without a price system to guide them, and are directed by decision-makers who are institutionally protected from the consequences of being wrong."

"Learning from previous generations," essentially learning from the elders, is soooo important. History is so important. Only the arrogant think that just because it is their turn now, they would do everything better and do not need the experiences of those who came before them.

Someone writes a macroeconomic, economic policy article. He researches, gathers data, compares it, etc. He do everything to support his argument with facts. And then a girl comes along in the comments and just says, 'Well, everyone can have their opinion, but...'

Girl, that wasn’t an opinion. Those were facts. And the conclusion drawn was based precisely on those facts.

Some people just think everything is a matter of opinion, that you can have an 'opinion' about anything. No matter how unqualified they are, no matter how little they know about the actual situation. As if you don’t have to work for an opinion. As if an 'opinion' is a free, unearned right that everyone, regardless of their IQ, should have. Or how often do you hear or read, 'Unfortunately, I don’t have an opinion on that'?

This stupid, woke, privilege-fueled entitlement really gets on my nerves sometimes.

Web Usability Expert: Tries to find ways to make it easier for the user to operate a service so that they can complete their task quickly and in their own interest, in order to move on to other actions afterward (i.e quickly leave the service).

UX ("User eXploitation") Expert: Tries to find ways to manipulate user behavior so that it aligns with the (mostly commercial) interests of the service provider.

The first is the user's advocate, the second is an advocate of the company.

In the case of the second, the interests of both parties rarely align, and when they do, it is only by chance. The interests of the company they work for is always at the forefront of their intentions.

The practice of Riba is a very high time preference activity where all that matters is the destructive short-term gain at the expense of sustainable long-term growth. Zakat, on the other hand, is a very low time preference activity where the giver seeks to attain rewards over the long-term, both in this life and in the hereafter.

Zakat facilitates in advancing the "process of civilization", while Riba seeks to disrupt this process.

In the Islamic tradition, these two practices could not be any more antipodal. Indeed, if zakat can be considered “financial worship” as elucidated by Abul A'la Maududi, then Riba can be rightfully called “financial transgression”.

Subhanallah reminds me how Allah سُبْحَانَهُۥ وَتَعَالَىٰ tells us people existed before us more advanced but they were destroyed due to them rejecting his signs brought by the Prophets...

"Do they not contemplate within themselves? Allāh has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, in the meeting with their Lord, are disbelievers.

Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed [or excavated] the earth and built it up more than they [i.e., the Makkans] have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allāh would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves."
