Dr. Richard K. Bernstein has passed away at the age of 90. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1946 at just 12 years old, he lived with the condition for nearly 79 years, making him one of the longest-living Americans with T1D. He lived through through the era of guesswork, inevitable complications, and outdated dogma. But he refused to accept that deterioration was inevitable.
In the 1970s, as an engineer-not yet a doctor-he became the first person with diabetes to regularly monitor his blood sugar using a meter designed for hospitals. Through relentless experimentation, he discovered that tight control, a low-carb diet, and precise insulin dosing could normalize blood sugars and even reverse diabetic complications.

I’ve been searching for a while, but I’m ready to ramp it up, mix it up and see what happens with the social capital I've been building here on nostr...
This is hard and uncomfortable because I hate talking about me. I prefer doing, building, creating, and occasionally writing (people at work say I'm good at it 🤷). But one of the most important things Bitcoin teaches us is that doing the hard thing is often the right thing, so lets see where this goes.

Lived most of my life with migraines (which usually lasted a few days), photophobia, oily face, and inflammation. Those were the most obvious symptoms I could tell. I remember not being able to go out during school recess because I found the sunlight blinding.
A loud noise, a bright light, or strong smell, would all immediately cause a strong migraine to set in and stick for hours.
After eliminating sugar (and highly processed foods) and going on a low-carb diet about 2 years ago, all of those symptoms are pretty much gone and I feel much healthier overall.
