You can think of one or many Cashu payments as a deferred Lightning payment. Especially useful for asynchronous transactions: A merchant can always accept ecash from any mint and, depending on their appetite, either swap out to mints they trust or to a non-custodial Lightning wallet when they come back online and need to process orders.

As a merchant, you can't get rugged if you never received the actual payment.

On the other hand, sellers can also define the mints they require a token to be from (Cashu payment requests contain this information). That way, the sender is expected to get ecash from a specific mint (typically using Lightning). These transactions are typically instant.

Nostr stores should support cashu payments sent in secure DMs. Buyer can reclaim the payment if seller doesn't reply.

Seller doesn't need a payment processing or e-commerce server, mobile phone is enough. Maybe the cheapest and easiest way to run a small online store.

Some sort of order management UI for buyer and seller on the client side would be nice.

Just thinking aloud, only tried Shopstr so far but should check out others as well (Amethyst?)

No, there is no such thing as "a bitcoin" or "a satoshi", in the software, in memory on your computer, or in the protocol. This is actually crucial, and not just semantics. If each satoshi were an actual thing, then they could be traced from inputs to outputs. All that exists is an accounting mechanism of (output measured value - input measured value).

It costs 1sat per kB for uploads and all blobs are deleted after 24 hours...

maybe we should bitcoin+nostr+mcp this hashcash thing https://github.com/TecharoHQ/anubis but make it so that the challenge string (provided by a spam-deterring site operator) is actually the components of a prospective bitcoin block header.

If the operator is too lazy to run their own bitcoin node to construct the block template, then they can grab one from a service like mempool.space

From the visitor's perspective it is the same (they must complete the pow challenge), but at least this way every website operator can also be a solo miner.

I still think most free relays should do this. Just make your policy clear (how many months do you keep?) and charge to keep people's info & prioritize cache and CPU for authenticated subscribers. Simple and effective business model for relays.

My kid is learning English as a second language and he was using some corporate program that was supposed to be fine tuned over many years. I noticed that their method of teaching is not great because it forces kids to memorize images instead of read actual text, so I stopped immediately and switched him over to reading one syllable words and gradually building them into sentences.

Now I use ChatGPT to generate custom lesson plans for him. It takes about 10 seconds to generate. I can honestly say this has worked much better than this expensive corpo program.

The tools we have at our disposal now are insane. All it takes is a tiny bit of imagination and a drive to try things.
