How a reasonable (not demented) president would approach the problem of trade imbalance: (i) set reasonable tarriffs that can be mostly absorbed by the exporters, (ii) everyone shuts up and pays and you have money printing machine, (iii) you use money from money printing machine to support production in your country, you set taxes from productive activites to zero, you incentivise creation of new jobs etc. You tax billionaires (owners of resouces who receive rent) and incentivise productive activities. But for this you need a President (i) who doesn't suffer from dementia, (ii) doesn't serve the billionaire class.
