Sometimes things are simple. If #nostr is really different and useful, it will grow time after time, no rush needed. When people will look for an alternative after been ban or tired to expose all their personal data to privates companies and government, nostr will be ready. It will happen because when the collecting all data step will be over, it will be the exploit data step and it will not be good to see...
So, in my point of view it is better to say "i'm using nostr", and explain why instead of trying to convince someone to use it.
And there is some points to improve before mass adoption :
- People like to use app that drive them with "one" button. Not having to manage private/public key... improve this would help a lot
- Did the current network could support mass adoption ?
- What about spam and other bot that will increase with the mass adoption (and a way to filter the true bot from just new human user ?
Finaly it is nice there is no rush for nostr because it allow some times to improve these points and make a better place for new users.
