Really? That doesn't resonate. I think the wealthy skew republican. Apart from just a general sense that the wealthy people in my life tend to be republican, I also think there's a theoretical reason why that skew would happen: (1) democrats typically support bills that raise taxes on the rich (2) possession of wealth incentivizes protection of wealth (3) that incentive presumably biases wealthy people against the party that wants to raise their taxes, i.e. against the democrats. Thoughts?

Yeah but that's California, everything skews democrat there
> looks like higher income people did skew democratic in 2024.. Although "income over 200k" is not rich...
I'd like to see stats for income over 400k
That's rich in Ohio where I'm from, I don't know if it's rich in California though

No
> or that by their political leanings it makes them want to go out and buy a boat?
No, I think two of the reasons people own their own boats are (1) for work and (2) for pleasure
(1) tends to be independent workers, who skew republican
(2) tends to be the wealthy, who also skew republican
It struck me as a strange thought but plausible and would make a good, fiery nostr post
And here we are

Do you mean, republican boats tend skew crappy and democrat boats skew nice?
I suppose that sounds plausible
Democrats who can't afford a nice boat likely won't buy a crappy one either
But republicans might buy a crappy boat for business purposes (e.g. an independent fisherman), so all the crappy boats end up republican owned and the yachts are divided between rich republicans and rich democrats
But the crappy boats drag down the republican skew and make it so that the "average" republican boat costs less than the "average" democrat boat
