Being a father is the most important thing you can do to make the world better. Here’s proof…

Children in father-absent homes are at least 4 times more likely to struggle with drug and alcohol abuse later in life. (U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services)

85% of youth in prison come from fatherless homes. (U.S. Dept. of Justice)

Kids with involved fathers have lower rates of depression, anxiety, and behavior issues, according to a meta-analysis of 24 studies. (Sarkadi et al., Acta Paediatrica, 2008)

It's this an argument for adoption? Marrying single moms?

I’ll raise you one - get married and do not divorce.

The damage my parents divorce did to me is still there 33 years later.

Now I struggle every day in my own marriage - fighting to end the cycle. It’s the hardest thing I have ever done.

I wont give up, because I know where that path leads.

Sucks for those of us that lived through it. But I'm not going to let that be the excuse for my misgivings & instead take ownership.

Agreed... fatherhood is the bomb... and seeing yourself come out in your kids actions is golden.

I wrote a song about being a dad after my first son was born. Chorus goes…

“Daddies are heroes, daddies are friends, daddies are teachers they help little boys become men, little boys they need to feel their fathers guiding hand, ‘cause daddies help their little boys become heroes, teachers and friends.”

Man my father is alive and well and sometimes I forget he exist and then I see him in person and you’d think he’d been in my life for years raising me to be the man that I am.

I’m just trying to be present in my child’s life and teach them how to be ethical and open minded.

Learning to be a father, human, healer, Bitcoiner, and many more hats.

You are absolutely right!!!

And for you younger, Millenial Dads, it is even worth it when they become teenagers, and turn you into your own father, sayings and all 🙄

Bonus though, at 45, you annoy them by waking them up, like they did to you at 4 😂😂

I like seeing notes like this from you. You know what's good.

All we can do is our part. Doing so, gives our kids better outcomes and allows them to pass these teachings within our bloodline and flourish.

I didn't have a dad growing up but I surely didn't need an excuses to not be a good person. I'm just glad to be a part of my kids life. it's kind of strange given they will never know what it's like to experience what I did growing up and I'm happy for that. Fatherhood is the best.

I feel the same way. It is a bit lonely to be the one who stops the intergenerational trauma because you become the last man standing, but I’d prefer my kids never know the kind of pain I went through.

I disagree with the approach on the last bit., Over time, I will atleast talk & share over the years of what I went through in my past and explain what many other kids today are still going through so my son has the perspective & understanding.

💯
It's funny, I just kick back and my mind wanders how good they have it to not go through "adverse childhood experiences."

I'm just glad they get to have a childhood and I live vicariously through them. No worries for domestic violence, physical and emotional abuse etc. Just cruising through their developmental milestones and slaying those positive attachment styles without a care in the world.. I'll shield them from the dangers for as long as I can. It's our duty as parents..
