Does it make sense to have two paid relays like @Azzamo and @Mazin’s Nostr.wine? And if so, then remove public relays?

Of course, it makes sense. I would also advise adding a few more relays, such as WOT relays. You’re welcome to use our free WOT relay at: wss://wot.azzamo.net.

I’ve only used nostr.wine relays (with most importantly filter.nostr.wine) for ~2 years. I don’t read directly from any free relays. For our aggregator behind Filter, we use a data pipeline we call “Purgatory” to strike a balance between coverage and new pubkey spam. There are tradeoffs but I’m quite pleased with the results we’ve seen thus far.

Don't remove public relays or you will be isolated, not every one can broadcast to this paid relays.

Ok, I asked bc the paid relays say they aggregate from public relays.

Hey! Our Premium Relays only aggregate notes from Premium users, using a selected list of public relays as sources.
The Inbox Relay is Freemium (free to use) and aggregates all DMs across public relays to keep your private chats complete.
And our WOT Relay pulls in notes from users within the Web of Trust of Azzamo. Let us know if you have more questions
